Today (9 Av 5779 / 9-10 August 2019), also known as Tisha B’Av, falls in July or August on the Gregorian calendar. It is an annual fast day for the Jewish people, on which a number of calamities took place in the history of God’s people. Most notably the destruction of both of Solomon’s Temples. Thus, it is regarded as the saddest day on the Jewish calendar.
Tisha B’Av, along with the Biblical Holy Days, became very meaningful for me in the course of writing my book, “Walking With the Enemy.” Reportedly, the enemies of Israel destroyed both Jewish temples in Jerusalem on the 9th day of Av. According to history, the first temple was burned down by the Babylonians in 586 BC, and the second was completely destroyed by the Roman Army, under the command of Titus, during the Jewish revolt in AD 70.
These temples represented God’s presence in the midst of His chosen people, but praise God, we don’t need a man-made building for our heavenly Father to reveal Himself to us Today! For those of us who allow the Lord God Almighty to purify our hearts, He may choose to make His habitation with us! But it can only happen through Emmanuel, the Messiah of Israel!
We are at a turning point in this battle for the souls of men, and it won’t be long before Jesus “will swallow up death in victory!” Praise the precious name of Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ—the Anointed One!
