Perilous Times

10 September 2020 / 21 Elul 5780

We are living in perilous times, just as God said would come upon the earth…

2 Timothy 3:1   “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 Timothy 3:2   For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2 Timothy 3:3   Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2 Timothy 3:4   Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Timothy 3:5   Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

There are many people who say they are “Christians,” but it’s in name only! Sadly there are those who have the false belief that if they made an altar call at some time in their life, and professed faith in Jesus Christ, that they are “saved;” and forever will be, no matter how they live their lives! They claim, “once saved, always saved!” Well it’s just not true! And there’s going to be a lot of “professing Christians” in Hell who believed that awful lie!

I am sure the religious leaders that God was denouncing in Matthew were very sure they had a place in Heaven, but Jesus let them know otherwise in very strong terms.

Matthew 23:27 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

Matthew 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity….

Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?”

This morning I was reading a passage from John, and was compelled to look up the meaning of the word “continue” in the Strong’s Concordance. This is the Greek definition:

#G3306– Continue: “to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy):

Think about that as you consider this passage from the apostle John.

John 8:28 “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I AM, and I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things.

John 8:29 And He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him.

John 8:30 As He spake these words, many believed on Him. John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, IF ye CONTINUE in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed;

John 8:32   And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Thus, only those who are following the true Christ will know the truth. And for those who think they are following Jesus, but are not (and are following “another Jesus,” and a false gospel), they will continue to walk in Darkness, but profess to be in the Light!

False “Christians,” will be fearful, and unstable in their mind, they will have no power over sin, and they will just dismiss sin in themselves, and others, or make excuses for it; all the while dying inside and not knowing why. Then one day, when they come to the end of themselves, maybe, depending on their true heart condition, they will call out to God!

There was a time, back in November 1979, that I desperately needed God to intervene and take over my life, and this year will be 41 years since I called out to God! He has been with me, and I have been with Him, ever since! Praise God, He heard my earnest plea!

The Holy Scriptures speak of the “apostasy” to come before the “Wicked One” is setup to take over the world, and it is happening right now! Many that claim to be Christians are falling away, just like Jesus said they would. I pray for the innocent people who are walking in the Darkness, yet know not where they are going! May they see the “True Light,” before it is too late!

Something To Think About!
